The Preston County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner and Awards Presentation has been scheduled for Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the beautiful Camp Dawson facility in Kingwood.
“We are extremely excited to announce that our guest speaker this year will be E. Gordon Gee, President of West Virginia University,” stated Kristy Ash Executive Director of the Chamber. Dr. E. Gordon Gee is one of America’s most prominent higher education leaders, having helmed universities for more than three decades. In 2009, Time magazine named him one of the top 10 university presidents in the United States. In 2014, Gee returned to West Virginia University, where his career as a university president began. “We are eager to learn more about Dr. Gee’s perspective on the link between higher education and the local business economy,” Ash said.
A full course dinner featuring “Appalachian Mountain Heritage Foods” will be prepared by Chef Claudia of the Liberty Restaurant at Camp Dawson.
According to Ash, “Every year we honor businesses and highlight their success and contributions to the community during our awards presentation. This year is no different. Among others, some of the awards that will presented on the 6th are Business of the Year, New Business of Year and the Sheila G. Haney Ambassador of the Year Award.”
Invitations to the annual event will be mailed out soon. If you are interested in attending or you need additional information, please contact the Chamber office at 304-329-0576. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
